teenager

May 2036 - Robert Stanton is 36; Meg, Christian Andrews, and Justin Kim are 12; Libby is 7; Jodie and Sadie are 4.

Meg has started spending a lot of time in the bathroom admiring herself in the mirror and putting on makeup. Her mother helped her pick out a new wardrobe and gave her a makeover in honor of her starting seventh grade.

Meg tries hard to fill the void left by her mother. Now that she's a teenager, her father often leaves her in charge of her sisters while he's at work. She tries to help her father keep the house clean, and she's learned to repair Libby's toy robot when it breaks down.

"Thanks Meg!" Libby is a smart kid, but she hasn't figured out how to fix the robot herself yet.

During the day while Meg is in school, they have a nanny to take care of Jodie and Sadie.

Despite all of her responsibilities, for the most part she's a normal teenaged girl. She's become friends with Justin Kim, and he introduces her to his friend Christian.

She thinks Christian is pretty cute!

He also seems pretty smitten with her.

Even when their father gets home, he's really busy taking care of things around the house. Many nights Meg fixes dinner for herself and Libby. Robert cooks in big batches on the weekend so they just have to warm things up during the week.

Robert always has yardwork and home improvement things to do in the evening. For some reason their trash can keeps getting knocked over, and Robert has to spray for bugs.

He's also restoring a car. He's wanted to restore a car for a long time, and this will mean he can give his old car to Meg when she turns sixteen. Even though it's more than three years away, he's looking forward to Meg's getting her license. It's hard being a single father to four daughters, and he relies a lot on Meg.

I've been naming my updates after songs, but I've had a hard time finding appropriate song titles, and I've now used the same song title twice. But I think the title is appropriate, plus I last used this title more than a month ago.
