March 2043 - Andrew Carter and Kate Myers are 40, Harper Myers is 17, Avery Myers is 10.

It starts out like any other morning. Their parents are both gone before they leave for school, so Harper makes sure they have breakfast and leave for school in time. When both of your parents are doctors, you get used to taking care of yourself at an early age.

August 2034 - Andrew Carter and Kate Myers are 32, Harper is 9, Avery is 2.

Andrew and Kate move into their first house this summer. They don't have enough furniture for such a large place, so it's still pretty empty. But it's still wonderful to have a real house and a yard instead of a cramped city apartment.

the new year

February 2031 - Andrew Carter and Kate Myers are 28; Harper Myers and Toby Wright are 5.

Kate and Andrew have been together since college, but they haven't gotten married or even engaged.

"Do you think maybe we should get married?" Andrew asks.

"Why?" Kate asks.

"We've been together for 8 years, and we have a daughter together," he points out.

"What's the point of getting married? We already live together."
