total eclipse of the heart

May 2041 - Ellie Fairchild, Meg Stanton, Justin Kim, Christian Andrews and Aimee Wheeler are 17; Isaiah Gavigan, George Smith, and Riley Wilder are 16 (Sandy Fairchild is 56).

It's been more than a month since Meg and Matt Ottomas broke up, and Ellie is pretty tired of consoling her heartbroken best friend.

"You just need to meet a new guy," she says.

"How will I meet a new guy in Providence? There aren't any guys in town."

"We'll be starting college in a few months. Things will be different there."

"But prom is in a few weeks, and I don't have a date. I don't even think I'm going to go anymore."

"You have to go to prom," Ellie insists.

"Why? I'll just end up being the third wheel to you and Isaiah."

"What about Justin's friend from Bridgeport, Christian? He's cute. Justin's girlfriend Aimee is coming in from Bridgeport to go to prom with him, and Christian can come with her to be your date."

They go dress shopping at Meg's mother's store, Jenny's Closet.

"Hurry up, you need to see how hot I am in this dress. How's yours?"

"It's amazing," Ellie says.

"You don't think it's too much?" Meg asks.

"It's beautiful. You should definitely get it."

The six of them gather at Ellie's house before heading to the dance for pictures.

Justin, Aimee, and Christian arrive at Ellie's house in a limo.

"Please be careful," Sandy says.

"Mom, we're only driving a few blocks. We'll be fine."

The prom is held at Providence Theater in the big room where they hold concerts and other events.

George Smith and Riley Wilder are there together.

They aren't big dancers, so they spend most of the night just hanging out and talking.

The seniors dance the night away. Isaiah likes to show off his dance moves.

Justin, though, isn't a very good dancer.

"Ouch," Aimee says.

"I'm so sorry!"

Meg has a great time dancing with Christian.

"You seem to be having a good time with Christian, huh?" Ellie says while they're freshening up in the bathroom.

"Yeah... he's so sweet."

"Thanks for being my prom date," she says. "I had a great time."

"I did too."

  1. Aw, super cute. I love Meg's dress, it's really beautiful. You're really good at taking pictures of all the action too.
