I took some time for Christmas

January 2043 - Amin and Brenda Zhang are 29, Barack is 16 months.

Last November Brenda ran her first national campaign and was elected to Congress. She's excited to be stepping into national politics, but she also worried. In a few months she'll be sworn in as a congresswoman, and then she'll be commuting between Providence and D.C. Since the election she's been frantically trying to get everything ready before the move, but she tries to spend as much time with Barack as possible.

Amin assures her that he and Barack will be fine without her. She'll try to come back every weekend, but it'll be just the two of them during the week. They've already lined up a nanny to take care of Barack during the day and do some cooking.

Amin loves playing around with his little boy. "We're going to men together," he says. "Two guys on the town."

He'll also have their dog Buffy to keep him company while his dad is at work.

Brenda manages to take a day off from working with her transition team to spend with Barack. They got six inches of snow the night before, so she bundles him up in his snowsuit and takes him into the backyard. "Look at all this snow, sweetie!"

He's so little the snow comes up to his waist, but he loves playing in the snow.

"Are you cold little man? Let's get you warmed up."

"Did you have fun with Mommy?"

"Yah!" he says happily.

  1. I love that Brenda's in politics and she named her son Barack! You may have made mention of doing that on purpose before but if you did, I forgot.

It's nice that she's trying to maximise quality time with her son before she has to start spending so much time away but it looks like Barack has a very good daddy to step up while his mother is away as well.

  2. Thanks for commenting Carla! I didn't pick Barack's name because Brenda is in politics, but I certainly named him after the president. I try to name my sims so that sims in the same family will have names with similar origins. Amin's name is Arabic, and when I looked at other Arabic boy names, the name Barack jumped out at me. But it is fitting that Brenda is a member of Congress; perhaps she's already hoping her son follows her into politics!
