August 2028 - Anne and James Smith are 28, Caroline Wilder is 27, George Smith and Riley Wilder are 4, Laura Wilder is 3 months, John and Tom Smith are 1 month.
The Smiths and the Wilders have been friends for almost ten years, and now that they have kids the same age, they try to get together regularly for playdates. This is their first playdate since the birth of Laura in May and the twins John and Tom in August. The babies are too young to know what's going on, but it gives their parents an excuse to hang out.
George and Riley are only four years old, but they're already good friends! Their younger siblings aren't really old enough to play with yet, so they're always happy to see each other.
They spend most of the afternoon happily coloring together.
The playdate is a big success. George and Riley have a lot of fun, and the adults can split up the childcare duties. Anne puts the babies down for a nap...
...while Caroline gets bottles for George and Riley.
George falls asleep right after lunch, but Riley is more energetic. It takes a while for her to quiet down enough to sleep.
Anne and Caroline even manage to steal a couple of quiet, kid-free hours to eat lunch and chat.
"Charlie and I have been talking about having another baby," Caroline says.
"Another one? You just had Laura a few months ago."
"Well, not right away, but soon. We want them to be close in age."
"James and I will probably have more kids," Anne says, "but not for a few years. The twins are exhausting. I didn't think it would be this much harder with two than with one."
"George and Riley will be starting school next year," Caroline points out.
"I know, I can't believe it!" Anne says. "They're growing up so fast."

There isn't a lot going on in the Smith or the Riley houses right now other than taking care of kids! But their kids are super cute, and I thought a playdate was a good way to show off how adorable they are. George and Riley are so cute, although I'm not sure how Riley got her pointed ears. The babies are also cute, although it's harder to see their features. But John and Tom both have brown hair and brown eyes like their dad, and Laura has her mom's red hair.
George and Riley are super cute huggling each other. It looks like a successful playdate. They were lucky to get some time with the kids all resting.
