November 2043 - Julien and Melissa Cooke are 56, Adrien Cooke is 14, Anthony Cooke is 26, Anjali Ramaswami is 25.
Julien and Melissa are excited to have Anthony and Anjali home for Thanksgiving. It's only been a few months since they moved to Takemizu Village, but it's a big adjustment not to have their son living a few blocks away.
"When are Anthony and Anjali coming home?" Julien asks.
"Sunday afternoon. Anthony says they have big news to tell us."
The apartment is very quiet these days. Adrien mostly keeps to himself, spending time alone in his room with his robots and his computer.
They adopted a new cat a few years ago, Julia, and she gave birth to two kittens, Saffron and Basil. Julien loves having kittens to play with, although their little apartment isn't really big enough for four cats.
Anthony and Anjali arrive while Julien is at the restaurant, but Melissa can't wait to hear the news.
"What did you want to tell us?" she asks. "Just tell me, we'll tell your father when he gets home."
"Well..." Anjali says, "Anthony you should tell her."
"We're engaged, Mom. Anjali and I are getting married."
"Oh sweetie, that's wonderful!" As she hugs him, she calls Adrien out of his room. "Adrien, come congratulate your brother."
Since they're having Thanksgiving dinner with the Ramaswamis, Julien serves dinner at the restaurant.
The Cookes and Ramaswamis have known each other for a long time. It seems right that their children are finally getting married.
"Anthony is such a wonderful man," Priya says. "We're so happy to have him as a son-in-law."
"We feel the same way about Anjali," Julien tells her.
Julien brings out one of their finest bottles of champagne to celebrate.
"To Anjali and Anthony," Julien says. "May they have a long, happy life together."
Since Anjali and Anthony both want to get married in Providence and neither care about having a big wedding, a few days after Thanksgiving they head to the courthouse and get married.

Congratulations to Anjali and Anthony! I loved the engagement celebration dinner with the Ramaswami's. It's neat that the Cooke and Ramaswami families are now linked. I can't wait to see some babies!
ReplyDeleteThanks for commenting Mandie! I really wanted Anthony and Anjali to get married before they went back to Japan so their families could be there. I don't have any plans to have them try for a baby soon, but I'd also love it if they had some cute super smart babies.
ReplyDeleteI am sure Anthony ans Anjali's babies would be adorable. It's nice that they got married before heading back to Japan so both families could witness it.
ReplyDeleteAnthony and Anjali would have beautiful babies I imagine! It's a little sad they didn't do a wedding, just cause those are a lot of fun to read/see pictures of! But I'm glad they did what worked out for them, less time planning weddings, more time to make a baby. :)
ReplyDeleteIt was very sweet to have the toast, what a great way to celebrate a couple and their love.
